Transportation

Cullman's centralized southeast U.S. location and its well planned and well rounded transportation system allow Cullman to serve as a hub and distribution center. Its transportation system provides easy access to Atlanta, Nashville, Memphis, Jackson, Mobile and the world beyond. 
 
  • Air:   General aviation services are available at Cullman's Folsom Field located in the northern end of the county. This fixed base operation (F.B.O.) is owned jointly by the City of Cullman and Cullman County. The airport boasts a 5500 x 100 foot runway and a modern terminal building with a restaurant, passenger terminal and pilot's lounge.  It is served by NDB and GPS approaches and offers jet fuel, 100 low lead avgas, hangers, maintenance and two flight schools -- Wallace State Flight School and Greentree Aviation.

    Commercial air service is available from the Birmingham International Airport (60 minutes from Cullman) and from the Huntsville International Airport (45 minutes from Cullman) which serves as a Port of Entry. Airlines such as American- American Eagle, Delta, Northwest, Southwest and USAir-US Airways serve one or both of these airports.

  • Ground:   With Interstate 65 and several other major Federal and State highways intersecting the county, Cullman is home to five trucking terminals and 30 truck lines.  It is also served by another 15+ motor freight terminals within a 35 mile radius. In addition to motor freight, the county is served by Greyhound Bus Lines, UPS, FedEx and other freight/parcel companies.

    Major highways in the county include I-65 with five Cullman exchanges, U.S. Highway 31(north-south), U.S. Highway 278 (east-west) and Alabama Highways 69, 91 and 157.
     

  • Rail:  CSX serves the city and county with daily rail service on one of its main lines. For more information on CSX, visit their web site at  http://www.csx.com .
